Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Helpbook Builder app for macOS devices, created by Jon Brown as a freemium service and provided “AS IS”.
Information Collection and Use
The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:
- Your device’s Internet Protocol address (for example, IP address)
- The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the time spent on those pages
- The time spent in the Application
- The operating system used on your macOS device
The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your macOS device.
The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data or provide features.
The Service Provider may use information you provide to contact you from time to time with important information, required notices, and marketing promotions.
For a better experience while using the Application, the Service Provider may require certain personally identifiable information. Information requested is retained and used as described in this policy.
Problem Reports Submitted on This Website
If you use the website’s Report a Problem form, it collects the details you enter, including your email address, optional name, Helpbook Builder and macOS version information, device description, issue details, screenshots, and any optional screen recording. Your email address is used as the reply address for the notification sent to the site owner; it does not determine where the notification is delivered.
The form is processed by a Cloudflare Worker. Submissions and evidence are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket and a notification is delivered to the site owner through a destination-restricted Cloudflare email binding. Submission records and uploaded evidence are scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Evidence is not attached to the notification; the notification contains time-limited, signed links served by the Worker.
The form uses a visible Cloudflare Turnstile Managed widget and a non-visible honeypot field to reduce automated abuse. Turnstile evaluates technical signals associated with the request and validates a short-lived token with Cloudflare. The site passes the connecting IP address to Turnstile for that verification but does not add the IP address to the stored report manifest. Cloudflare’s handling of this information is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Third Party Access
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to help improve the Application and service quality. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties as described in this policy.
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
- When disclosure is believed necessary in good faith to protect rights, protect your safety or others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request
- With trusted service providers who work on the Service Provider’s behalf, do not have independent use of disclosed data, and agree to follow this policy
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all collection of information by the Application by uninstalling it. You may use standard uninstall processes available on your macOS device.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. To request deletion of User Provided Data submitted through the Application, contact [email protected].
Problem reports and their uploaded evidence use a separate 30-day retention schedule as described above.
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from, or market to, children under the age of 13.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to monitor children’s internet usage and instruct children not to submit personally identifiable information without permission.
If you believe a child has provided personally identifiable information through the Application or related services, contact [email protected] so appropriate actions can be taken. You must also be at least 16 years of age to consent to processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries, a parent or guardian may do so on your behalf).
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding your information and uses physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information processed and maintained.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of changes by updating this page. Continued use is deemed acceptance of all changes.
This privacy policy is effective as of August 26, 2026.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, now and as amended.
